SCLHSA attended Blue Cliff’s 2nd Annual Back to School Event in Houma, LA. All children were given a marble notebook.
St. Mary Parish Youth Career Assessment
SCLHSA participated in the St. Mary Parish Youth Career Assessment on July 30th. Children ages 11-16 were given a Youth Career Assessment to guide them in their future career paths. All participants were given school supplies along with brochures on our services.
St. Charles Parish Youth Rally
SCLHSA attended the St. Charles Parish Youth Rally on July, 30th. Marble notebooks and brochures were handed out for this event.
Pack the Bus for Terrebonne and Lafourche Parish
SCLHSA gave 1,100 notebooks to Pack the Bus for Terrebonne and Lafourche Parish.
St. James Backpack Extravaganza
SCLHSA attended the St. James Backpack Extravaganza on July 16th. Marble notebooks and information on our services were given out the the families of St. James Parish.
AmeriHealth Caritas “On the Move” Children’s Summer Camp
SCLHSA participated in the AmeriHealth Caritas “On the Move” Children’s Summer Camp on June 24th at the Oakshire Recreation Center.
Bayou Community Foundation Grant
SCLHSA received a grant award totaling $15,000 from the Bayou Community Foundation to continue the Mobile Outreach Program for outpatient mental health treatment.
Children’s Mental Health Awareness Family Fun Day
SCLHSA Children’s Mental Health Awareness Family Fun Day was a huge success! Crisis Intervention Team Training
SCLHSA held a week long Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Training from April 18-22. CIT is a FREE program which provides a knowledge base and practice for dealing with calls which are related to behavioral health issues, including those relating to children/adolescents. It also helps to familiarize law enforcement staff with resources available in the community.
2016 Prevention Calendar Contest Winners
An awards ceremony was held at the Lafourche Parish Council Meeting on April 13th for the 2016 Prevention Calendar Contest.

Homeless Connect Resource Fair and Point in Time Count
Alison Arthurs and Macy Richard attended the Homeless Connect Resource Fair and Point in Time Count on January 26th to share the services that SCLHSA has to offer.
Empowerment Through Employment
SCLHSA held two conferences on January 13th and 14th that included speakers who addressed current available programs that support employment, the wages versus benefits concern and discrimination in the workplace among other topics. Attendees also heard personal stories of three individuals with disabilities who have successfully made gainful employment a reality. The conferences ended with panel discussions regarding the information presented and questions from attendees.
Crisis Intervention Team Training for First Responder Dispatchers
On January 12th, SCLHSA and its Behavioral Health Advisory Committee, along with its partner agencies, the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office, Compass Psychiatric Specialties and Start Corporation hosted its first annual Crisis Intervention Team Training for First Responder Dispatches on January 12th. This was a free 8 hour training that covered key topic areas including foundations of mental illness and substance disorders, understanding persons with developmental disabilities, psychotropic medications, community resources and basic practicums.
