Benefits of working at SCLHSA

Paid Holidays

State employees receive paid days off for 10 statutory holidays, as well as any additional holidays proclaimed by the Governor. Some holidays include Good Friday, Juneteenth, and Veteran's Day.

Retirement

Membership in the Louisiana State Employees' Retirement System (LASERS) is mandatory for all state employees, except those specifically exempted by law. The contribution rate starts at 8% for new employees. The states' contribution is determined annually.

Annual and Sick Leave

Employees begin accruing annual leave upon employment, starting at approximately 12 days per year, with that number increasing incrementally with years of service. Unused leave is carried forward to the next year with no limitation on the amount accumulated.

Deferred Compensation

The Louisiana Deferred Compensation Plan allows you to supplement your retirement. This plan provides you an opportunity to invest money on a before-tax basis using payroll deduction.

Health Insurance

Employees may choose from 6 health plans. All full-time employees, their spouse, and eligible dependants are eligible for the benefits offered by the Office of Group Benefits (OGB).

Loan Repayment

All of our behavioral health sites are qualified under the NHSC Program. This program helps repay loans for health professionals working in communities of need.

Other Insurance

Other insurance offerings: 2 Life Insurance options, Accidental Death & Dismemberment, Dental, Vision, and Cancer policies available. 3 Flexible Spending Accounts also available.
